A few nights ago, my Pop-Pop was telling me about the Depression. He told me about the CCC Camp he worked at. I've been reading about these camps ever since and I think it's really interesting.
"The Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) was a work relief program for young men from unemployed families, established on March 21, 1933, by U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt. As part of Roosevelt's New Deal legislation, it was designed to combat unemployment during the Great Depression.
The CCC constructed many buildings and trails in city parks, state parks and national parks that are still used today, including the 4,000 seat stone amphitheater[1] for the Mountain Play. Other projects of the CCC included installation of telephone and power lines, construction of logging and fire roads, fence construction, planting tress in straight lines, and even beekeeping, archaeological excavation, and furniture manufacture. The CCC also provided the first truly organized wildland fire suppression crews and planted an estimated 5 billion trees for government agencies such as the United States Forest Service."

"Although the CCC did not construct the roadbed, “there would be no Skyline Drive without the efforts of the CCC,” according to Reed Engle, a cultural resource specialist with Shenandoah National Park. “They graded the slopes on either side of the roadway, built the guardrails and guard walls, constructed overlooks, planted hundreds of thousands of trees and shrubs and acres of grass to landscape both sides of the roadbed, built picnic areas and campgrounds, comfort stations, visitor contact and maintenance buildings, and made the signs that guided visitors on their way,” Reed writes on the Shenandoah National Park’s Website."

Today's my Momma's birthday.
I feel fried from yesterday.
I watched so much TV and soo many movies.
My medicine is making me dizzy and weak,
the only thing I've eaten the past two days are crackers.
My book came. I'm excited to read it.
I haven't read a book since The Fuck Up...
no, The DaVinci Code is the last book I read...
and I read it in one day.

i went to a family party today.
i went for the turtle cheesecake and there was none.
there was however a classic nova and a '64 yellow mustang.
friend of mine got $30 stolen from her wallet @ 700 club last night.

i just got home. my mother and i went down overnight... she just left to go back down with her boyfriend until sunday. my only responsibility all weekend is to feed the fish. lovely.
my mother screamed at me the whole way down.
she asked me to drive and then bitched at me for driving too fast and too close to other people.
she let me sleep in the big bed though. and bought me pizza and fudge and icecream. we sat up last night til 2 in the morning drinking and eating chips and cheese dip. we finished a whole pizzapie between the two of us. then we wok eup today, walked the boards and then watched the news. she was on it. for voting. nbc10. suewagner. that was my momma.
so now i have to recover from my overnight vacation, which means no eating for two days. ha!

the other night my mom kicked me out. I don't know if she was serious, she kicks me out all the time, but I'm not happy at home. So, I'm hoping for a job at Whole Foods and if that goes through, then I'll move from julie's couch to one of the empty rooms... in Landsdowne.
The mouse to my computer is missing, so I've been TABTABTABing around and it sucks, so I think I might give up the internet for a while. If you have my number, call me. If you know any place that's hiring, I'm not looking for a lot of money... something that pays 7 or 8 bucks if fine by me. I'll even take 6.

tonight on my way to whole foods to get a friend of mine, i drove over the platt bridge. when you drive over it in the direction that i did you get a beautiful view of the city and the stadiums. well tonight at 9 pm, i saw the stadium lit up and thought to myself, "my brother and dad are there and i'm here... thats awesome". but then i got to thinking about what would happen if something was to happen to the stadium while i was crossing the bridge. a bomb, or something of that sort. then at that exact moment... fireworks went off above the stadium and it was just such perfect timing. it scared me so much and got me so upset that i cried.
